Who We Are
The Right to Privacy Campaign (RPC) emerged in response to the provincial government's practice of contracting out the administration and management of British Columbians' personal information to US controlled companies.

Campaign supporters include various organizational participants as well as numerous concerned citizens.

Campaign goals, objectives, and strategies — aimed at protecting individuals' privacy rights — are collaboratively developed and implemented by the RPC steering committee, the campaign coordinator, and a team of volunteers.
What We Do
In our watchdog capacity, the Right to Privacy Campaign (RPC) closely monitors government outsourcing practices; we communicate our questions and concerns to appropriate government authorities, and we share information and news with campaign supporters and special interest groups.

In our more public role, the RPC issues media releases and, through our communications representatives, conduct media interviews on privacy related matters.

As a social action group during the first phase of the campaign, the RPC circulated and collected more than 39,000 signatures on a petition opposing the government's contract with MAXIMUS, Inc. to manage provincial healthcare records. We also supported an independent investigation into privacy implications concerning public sector outsourcing, and openly endorsed the final report and recommendations released by BC's Privacy Commissioner.

Currently, we support the efforts of individual British Columbians whose first steps toward safeguarding their privacy is to confirm the content and accuracy of their personal information held by the government and their data management companies.

Why a Campaign

No contracting out of information or information management to any company subject to foreign laws that violate the privacy rights of Canadians, such as the USA PATRIOT Act.

Support the Right To Privacy Campaign

This fundamental goal and operating premise of the RPC is shared by its campaign supporters. The campaign aims to increase public awareness about privacy rights and expose the ways in which these rights are compromised by the government's practice of outsourcing citizens' personal information to companies subject to current US legislation.
