What We Do

In our watchdog capacity, the Right to Privacy Campaign (RPC) closely monitors government outsourcing practices; we communicate our questions and concerns to appropriate government authorities, and we share information and news with campaign supporters and special interest groups.

In our more public role, the RPC issues media releases and, through our communications representatives, conduct media interviews on privacy related matters.

As a social action group during the first phase of the campaign, the RPC circulated and collected more than 39,000 signatures on a petition opposing the government's contract with MAXIMUS, Inc. to manage provincial healthcare records. We also supported an independent investigation into privacy implications concerning public sector outsourcing, and openly endorsed the final report and recommendations released by BC's Privacy Commissioner.

Currently, we support the efforts of individual British Columbians whose first steps toward safeguarding their privacy is to confirm the content and accuracy of their personal information held by the government and their data management companies.
