AIDS WALK for LIFE
The sun was shining on September 23rd in Stanley Park at the AIDS Walk for Life. For the 22nd year in a row the event was a huge success.
Number of Participants: Over 5000
Number of Volunteers: Over 400
Amount Raised: Over $390,000
Walkers enjoyed the short (two km) and long (seven km) routes, and then returned to the festival for fantastic musical entertainment by local bands the Kitchen, SPYGIRL and Brickhouse.
A big thank you to the bands, to Pamela Martin and Joely Collins for emceeing the event, to our sponsors, to our volunteers and especially to the Walkers. We couldn’t have done it without you!

All proceeds raised by the AIDS WALK for LIFE go directly to the Complementary Health Fund, which reimburses people for expenses that aren’t covered by our provincial health care plans, or by other health care plans. From alternative health and healing that keeps people well, to the cost of clean, filtered water, or even gym memberships. Some of the stuff that most people would take for granted!
Each year we also partner with other AIDS and community service organizations that participate in and benefit from the AIDS WALK. This year's participants are: A Loving Spoonful, Positive Living Fraser Valley Society, Asian Society for the Intervention of AIDS (ASIA), Lower Mainland Purpose Society (Stride with Purpose program), Vancouver Native Health Society (Positive Outlook program), Camp Moomba (Western Canadian Pediatric AIDS Society), Friends For Life, Healing Our Spirit, McLaren Housing, Positive Women's Network, Surrey HIV/AIDS Centre, YouthCo AIDS Society, Red Road HIV/AIDS Network and Wings Housing Society.

Thank YOU for making a profound difference in the lives of children, women and men living with HIV in British Columbia by committing to raise money and walk in this year's AIDS WALK for LIFE.
This year’s AIDS WALK theme is “The WALK will do us good.” With an estimated 58,000 Canadians infected with HIV - and 12,000 to 15,000 in BC alone - it is events like the AIDS WALK for LIFE that play a critical role in increasing community awareness and raising much needed funds for people living with HIV and AIDS.
This year is our 22nd annual AIDS WALK, and we are especially proud to recognize more than two decades of remarkable community involvement, care giving and support. The AIDS WALK continues to be a celebration of LIFE and also a time of reflection, of tribute and hope for a future without HIV and AIDS.
We are grateful to you for embracing this effort in the face of what continues to be a devastating health crisis. Thank you!
