The ABCs of HIV Treatment and Care

The ABCs of HIV Treatment and Care is a peer-based educational program organized and presented by the BC Persons With AIDS Society and the BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS.

The ABCs team travels to rural and urban communities across BC and the Yukon to give presentations to HIV-positive people and their caregivers.

Each workshop is tailored to the community's needs, and provides current HIV and Coinfection (HIV/Hepatitis C) treatment-related information.

Here is how it works:

  • An HIV-positive volunteer presents to members and staff of AIDS service organizations and other community groups
  • An HIV-specialized nurse from the BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS presents to nurses and allied health professionals
  • An HIV-specialized doctor from the BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS presents to doctors

We aim to:

  • Provide current information and support to HIV-positive people and their caregivers throughout the region
  • Offer an opportunity for persons living with HIV/AIDS and their health care providers to exchange experiences and knowledge
  • Create networks between AIDS Service Organizations and other health care providers

To date, the ABCs of HIV Treatment and Care program has visited more than 25 communities across British Columbia and the Yukon, often reaching communities that do not have access to an extensive amount of treatment-related resources.

We would be happy to come to your community and present information that specific to your needs.
